Authentic SeneGambian Sabar rhythms and dance in combined drum/dance workshop, run by master Sabar drummers Ali Seck and Babacarr Dieng of Tamra, and Senegalese Sabar dancer Yaye Fatou Seck.
Babacarr is the son of renowned drummer Magette Dieng who was a cornerstone of Youssou NDour's band for many years.

Babacarr Dieng and Ali Seck are taking a sabar drum and dance workshop on sat 4th oct at the bongo club edinburgh.
They are joined by Yaye Fatou Seck.
Also At the Bongo on Thurs.2nd Oct Babacarr and Ali and Fatou are joining Samba for a special Tanabere night,part of Ndaje African Connections club.

West African drum and dance with Hans Sutton & Emma Nelson
West African drum and dance with Hans Sutton & Emma Nelson will take place in Halesowen, nr Birmingham, on Saturday September 27th. This all-day workshop will be held at the Halesowen Athletic & Cycling Club, nr J3 of the M5 and will cost £20 for the day.

African Liberation Jazz Suite Sessions Presents...
Egbe Oduniyi Productions will be holding the next African Liberaton Jazz Suite Sessions, its monthly club night in mid September. Largely a live music event, featuring both traditional African musical forms and modern jazz, African Liberation Jazz Suite Sessions will be showcasing Kevin Haynes Grupo Elegua, Tony Kofi band, Shane Forbs band and other UK based groups alongside guest artists from Africa, Brazil, Cuba, the USA, and Trinidad. The night will also feature painters, and DJs will be spinning Jazz and African soundtracks during the intervals and end of live music sets.

A 10 week course suitable for beginners

Using authentic West African drums you will learn some basic techniques and a few simple rhythms that are combined to produce a great sound. The emphasis will be on listening to each other and playing together as a group.

Sabar Dance workshop with Mama Adelle
A former dancer with the Ballet National de Senegal and with Ballet Bougarabou, Mama Adelle has taught African dance in Europe, the USA and Scandinavia for over 27 years.
